People in Michiana

We would like to learn from you
If you live in the Michiana region and have a lower-limb amputation or suffer from reduced mobility, we would like to learn from you! Please email us at ebolivar@nd.edu
We develop custom wearable robots to improve the quality of life. In this process, we develop prototypes using composite materials, such as carbon fiber combined with fiberglass. We design mechanisms to minimize the weight and maximize the assistance of our wearable devices. We test the effect of our robots in a biomechanics study. Those studies involve motion analysis of your body while testing our devices. See some of the applications of motion analysis in Indiana. If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Northern Indiana Amputee Support Group
Our local support group is for individuals living with limb loss, their families, their clinicians, and their local scientists. It is a familiar place to ask questions, tell stories, and share a good time! The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month in our Wearable Robotics Laboratory. For details about this support group, please check the group's Facebook page.
Other examples of community
A key component of formulating our research objectives is to learn from the final users. We would like to thank the following organizations for their support in this effort:
- River City Rollers: Wheelchair basketball games for fun and fitness.
- Transcend Orthotics & Prosthetics: Professional services to understand clinical practice.
